In April 2024, on the occasion of the 55th World Earth Day and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Global Geoparks Network, Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark carried out a series of wonderful science popularization activities.

Exploring the Mysteries of the Earth and Appreciating the Beauty of Geology

         At the launching ceremony, Guo Huanting, chief of Geopark Management Section of Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark, interpreted the theme of World Earth Day, announced that the prelude of World Earth Day themed popularization of science and publicity activities would be kicked off by carrying out the activities of“Exploring the Mysteries of the Earth and Appreciating the Beauty of Geology”, and invited the public to visit the Global Geopark to appreciate the beauty of geology and encouraged students to get close to nature, love nature, explore the wonders of nature together and protect the Earth's homeland.   

Thematic Science popularization activities

       During this publicity activity, Zhijindong Cave jointly carried out theme publicity activities with 45 geoparks, including mutual exhibition, online and offline science popularization games, setting up“Global Geoparks on Stamps”points where you take a picture,“Global Geoparks Passport Card for Learning and Traveling,”and other exciting contents, so as to pass on to the public the scientific, aesthetic and cultural values of the Global Geoparks.

     In order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Global Geoparks Network, the Administration of Zhijindong Cave National Geopark went into Daping Township to carry out geohazard prevention and control publicity activities. By distributing detailed publicity brochures to the public, actively carrying out a series of colorful activities such as vivid science popularization explanation and interactive question and answer session on science popularization knowledge, the geoscience knowledge is presented in a more intimate and closer way to the daily life of the local people, so that the brand of the global geopark and the residents of the community can truly realize the common construction and sharing, and inject a new impetus for the sustainable development of the community. 

In this publicity activity, Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark guides the public to deeply understand and know Zhijindong's unique geological landscape and colorful culture by organizing the public to experience interesting science activities. In the next step, Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark will continue to carry out a series of activities such as “The Most Beautiful Mark of the Earth” photography competition etc., visitors and the public are welcome to actively participate in guarding the Earth's homeland and realizing harmonious coexistence between human beings and nature.
