On the morning of April 3rd, the square of the Geological Museum in Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark was bustling with excitement. A unique science popularization knowledge quiz was underway. Over 1,200 participants were highly enthusiastic, and their laughter and joy echoed throughout the square. This event is one of the series of popular science activities for the 56th World Earth Day theme publicity carried out by Zhijindong Cave Gloabl Geopark. With the theme of "Cherish the Earth, Harmonious Coexistence of Humans and Nature", it aims to popularize knowledge about stalactites, geological structures and ecological environment protection in Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark among young people, enhance their environmental awareness and promote the protection of local geological resources.
The participants of this event were senior three students from Zhijin No.1 High School. They set off from their school and walked over 10 kilometers to reach the Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark. Many of the students were experiencing such a study tour for the first time. Students can not only enjoy the magnificent scenery inside Zhijindong Cave, but also have "little surprises" waiting for them outside the cave. In front of the Xiaochi Deafness Sinkhole, all the students were deeply impressed by its grandeur. The guide explained the formation of the sinkhole to everyone. The students asked questions from time to time, and the discussion atmosphere on the spot was very lively. In front of the science popularization board about biodiversity, the guide introduced the animals and plants living in the Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark to the students, who listened with great interest.
The students all expressed that through field trips, many of the knowledge in books were no longer obscure and difficult to understand. This research and study activity not only increased their knowledge, but also aroused their curiosity about geology and enhanced their awareness of environmental protection.
In recent years, Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark has fully explored its unique geological science popularization resources and integrated local characteristic cultural and educational elements, greatly enriching the connotation of activities. Through the innovative development model of "study tours + tourism", the park has been constantly improving service quality, continuously increasing innovation efforts, and is committed to enhancing tourists' experience and sense of gain.
