During the May Day holiday, leveraging its natural ecological and cultural resources, Zhijin County optimized tourism services and support. Its all-for-one tourism market kept heating up, delivering an impressive performance report card.
Throughout the holiday, major scenic spots and cultural tourism streets across the county were packed with visitors. Self-driving tours, parent-child trips and immersive experience tours became the mainstream travel choices. Tourists from all over the country wandered across this land of caves and blessings, savored intangible cultural heritage, and experienced the unique natural scenery and cultural charm of Zhijin.
As the core landmark of Zhijin tourism, Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark, known as the King of Chinese Caves, stood out as the top tourist destination of the holiday. Maintaining a constant cool temperature of 16°C inside the cave, it features stalagmites, stone pillars and other fantastic landforms carved by nature over hundreds of millions of years, leaving visitors in awe. At iconic scenic spots such as the Silver Rain Tree and Overlord Helmet, tourists paused to take photos, immersing themselves in the extraordinary craftsmanship of nature.
To cope with the tourist peak, Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark strictly implemented the requirements of capacity control, reservation system and staggered visiting. It optimized online reservation, fast admission and passenger flow diversion services, and deployed additional staff and volunteers to guide tours, fully safeguarding visitors’ travel experience. Outside the Geopark, self-driving vehicles came in an endless stream. Tourists from Sichuan, Chongqing, Hunan, Yunnan and surrounding cities within Guizhou accounted for more than 70% of the total visitors. Geological popular science tours and family leisure tours remained the most popular choices.
To enrich tourist experiences, Zhijin County followed the philosophy of shaping tourism with culture and highlighting culture through tourism and launched a series of cultural and tourism themed activities this May Day. In Pingyuan Ancient Town, the themed event Inheriting Intangible Heritage · Cultural Zhijin was splendidly staged, featuring demonstrations of the national intangible heritage Zhijin batik craftsmanship, traditional embroidery experiences, and folk art performances. Intangible heritage inheritors offered on-site teaching, allowing tourists to create batik works by hand and appreciate the charm of traditional crafts through interactive experiences.
Meanwhile, the Tea Fragrance Tour built on local tea industry resources gained huge popularity. After being selected into the national high-quality tourism routes, Wumeng Limin Tea Garden welcomed a large influx of tourists. Visitors walked through the vast tea plantations with tea baskets, experiencing the whole process of tea picking, stir-frying and tea tasting. The route fully met the demands of parent-child study tours and ecological health preservation, realizing integrated development of tea and tourism and boosting rural revitalization through tourism.
The stable and orderly tourism market relied on precise and thoughtful service guarantees. To ensure smooth holiday operations, Zhijin County made advance plans and thorough arrangements. Multiple departments coordinated closely to ensure traffic diversion, safety supervision and comprehensive service support. Authorities of culture and tourism, public security, transportation and market supervision strengthened inspections to standardize scenic area operations, traffic order and food safety.
