Timer:2024-05-09

Located in southwest China. The fourth biggest plateau in China is located in the west of Xuefeng Mountain, south of Dalou Mountain, east of Ailao Mountain, east of Yunnan province, the whole Guizhou province, west of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and border regions of Sichuan, Hunan and Hubei provinces. It is roughly classified into Yunnan Plateau and Guizhou Plateau with Wumeng Mountain as the boundary. Yunnan Plateau in the west has the elevation of above 2000 meters and distinct plateau landform. Guizhou Plateau in the east fluctuates more obviously and has more mountain ranges. It has less plateau surfaces reserved and thus is referred to as “mountain plateau” with the elevation of 1000-1500m. Yunnan Plateau and Guizhou Plateau are linked together with obscure dividing line, so they are collectively referred to as “the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau”.
Karst landforms on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau develop well, and has wide area and various types, for which, any other country in the world cannot reach. Thus it is the typical karst plateau in the world.
