Six plates
In 1968, Le Pichon, French geologist, classified the global earthcrust into six plates: Pacific plate, Eurasian plate, African plate, American plate, Indin ocen plate (including Australia) and Antarctic plate. The boundaries among plates are mid-ocean ridge or sea ridge, deep-sea trench, transform fault and geosuture.
