Plutonism
Represented by Hutton of Britain (1726-1797), they did not deny the sedimentation and diagenesis of water, but stressed on the significance of volcanic eruption and magmatic intrusion as well as igneous rocks formed thereby. Igneous rocks are the most numerous among the surface rocks, and a theory of “plutonism” was therefore generated.
