From December 12th to 16th, the 9th UNESCO Global Geoparks Conference was held at the Jeju Island Geopark Global Geopark in South Korea. Due to the pandemic, this meeting was held online, and the Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark organized personnel to participate via video conference.
The UNESCO Global Geoparks Congress is held every two years and is one of the largest and highest-level professional conferences in the field of geoparks. The first eight sessions were held in China, the United Kingdom, Italy and other places respectively. The conference provides a platform for global geoparks to exchange ideas, promote each other and develop together, which is conducive to each geopark showcasing its construction achievements and enhancing its international reputation. This conference includes the Global Geoparks Council Meeting, the Global Geoparks Network Plenary Meeting, the Global Geoparks Network Advisory Committee Meeting, the Asia-Pacific Global Geoparks Network Coordination Committee Meeting, educational seminars, youth forums, and special academic forums, among other contents. About 400 people, including managers of UNESCO Global Geoparks, representatives of relevant governments and professionals from all over the world, attended this year's Global Geoparks Conference.
As a member of the Global Geoparks Network, the Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark organized participation in online exhibitions and other activities.
