From September 11th to 15th, a delegation from the Zhijindong Cave Gloabl Geopark, led by An Taimin, the Party Secretary of the Zhijindong Cave Administration, participated in the 8th Asia-Pacific Geopark Network Symposium held in Cao Bang Province, Vietnam.
This conference is hosted by Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark, Vietnam, with the theme of "Local and indigenous people and sustainable development in Geoparks". It also features six major thematic exchange sessions covering "Geological Disasters, Natural Disaster Risks, Climate Change Reduction and Adaptation", "Heritage Discovery, Conservation and Sustainable Utilization", and "Geoparks and Regional Sustainable Development Goals". This conference also held activities such as the UNESCO Global Geoparks Council Meeting, the 20th anniversary celebration of the establishment of the Global Geoparks, an expo, and on-site visits.
The delegation of Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark actively participated in various activities. At the expo, the Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark distributed promotional materials and cultural and creative products of the geopark to representatives from all over the world, comprehensively promoting and showcasing the unique geological relics and smart tourism of the Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark. The booth of the park was constantly visited by managers and exhibitors of Global Geoparks from various countries. The park's characteristic cultural and creative products were widely loved by the exhibitors.
Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark actively reported to the leaders of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, the Global Geopark Network, the Asia-Pacific Geopark Network, and the China National Geopark Network Center on matters related to the construction and management of the park. At the same time, it conducted extensive and friendly exchanges with many parks such as Leye - Fengshan Global Geopark, Zigong Global Geopark, and Guangwu Mountain - Nuoshuihe Global Geopark.
The Asia-Pacific Geoparks Network Symposium is held every two years, providing an opportunity for APGN members, geologists, scientists and colleagues to share and exchange experiences in geopark management and geological heritage protection. This conference attracted a total of over 800 experts, scholars, and park representatives from more than 60 geological parks and organizations in China, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and other countries.
