Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark participates in the 9th UNESCO Global Geoparks International Training Course

The 9th UNESCO Global Geoparks International Training Course was successfully held at Yunyang Global Geopark in Chongqing from October 10 to 15, 2025. Hosted by the Global Geoparks Network (GGN) and the Secretariat of UNESCO Global Geoparks, and co-organized by China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and Yunyang Global Geopark, this training course attracted experts, scholars and participants from China, Greece, France, Portugal, Brazil, Malaysia, Mongolia and other countries.

With the theme of "Management, Activities and Networking", this 7-day training course covered indoor thematic lectures, thematic seminars and field investigations. Lecturers from the Global Geoparks Network, the Council of UNESCO Global Geoparks and a number of domestic Global Geoparks conducted teaching around topics such as strategies for the protection and sustainable use of geological heritage, innovation in geological science popularization education and the construction of public participation mechanisms, and the integrated development path of natural resources and cultural heritage.

During the training, representatives of Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark actively participated in various activities such as training Q&A sessions, thematic discussions and on-site inspections, and conducted extensive exchanges with representatives of other Global Geoparks. With the theme of "Linking with natural and cultural heritage, developing nature interpretation tours to build the diverse and comprehensive Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark", we introduced in detail the work done by the park in the development of nature and culture in recent years, and demonstrated the uniqueness, diversity and aesthetic value of Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark.

Through this training, we have gained a deeper understanding of the construction and development of Global Geoparks, and learned more advanced experiences in park management and operation, science popularization and publicity, and community and public participation, laying a solid foundation for building a better Global Geopark.
