On November 4, 2025, the China UNESCO Global Geoparks Annual Conference and UNESCO Global Geoparks 10th Anniversary Symposium grandly opened at Wugongshan Global Geopark The 4-day event, themed "A Decade of Building Dreams for Geoparks, Now Gathering Strength for a New Chapter at Wugong", featured exchanges, discussions, and field visits to share global geopark conservation experiences.

At the opening ceremony, Yu Hui, Deputy Director of the Protected Areas Department of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, delivered a speech; Wei Yanguang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, and Director of the National Geopark Network Center, addressed the audience; He Qingcheng, Executive Deputy Director of the National Geopark Network Center, Director of the Global Geopark Network Office, Chief Scientist and former Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, presided over the event and delivered a report Li Jun, Second-level Inspector of Jiangxi Provincial Forestry Bureau, and Xiong Yunlang, Deputy Secretary of the Pingxiang Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, also delivered speeches Professor Shahbaz Khan, Director of UNESCO Beijing Office, and Professor Antonio De Sousa Abreu, Director of the Division of Ecological and Earth Sciences at UNESCO, sent congratulatory messages via video.

During the conference exchange and discussion session, representatives from Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark shared the experiences on the park's expansion and revalidation work. The report mainly covered the park's basic situation, the source of expansion tasks, experience in expansion work, and the integration of geological heritage with natural and cultural heritage During the event, in-depth exchanges were also conducted with relevant geopark experts and representatives of sister parks to promote information sharing and contribute to the sustainable development of geoparks.图片5.jpg

In 2024, Zhijindong Cave Global Geopark expanded its area to 201.72 square kilometers In July 2025, the park successfully accepted the on-site evaluation by UNESCO assessment experts In September 2025, at the 11th UNESCO Global Geoparks Conference held in Chile, the park's expansion and revalidation were successfully approved, receiving a "Green Card".
