Huawu Village Sees Surging Popularity During May Day Holiday

During the May Day holiday, Huawu Village of Qianxi City witnessed a sharp rise in popularity and greeted a tourist peak. Visitors from across the province and the country flocked here to immerse themselves in the charm of landscape scenery, ethnic culture and diversified business formats. The scenic area maintained orderly operation with a vibrant cultural and tourism market, emerging as a top holiday travel destination. Over the May Day break, Huawu Village received 45,200 tourist visits, generating a total tourism revenue of 15.2 million yuan.

As the core area of the Dongfenghu Lake Canyon Section, Huawu Village boasts stunning landscapes of towering cliff walls and winding clear waters. Iconic spots including the panoramic view of Yachi River Bridge, cliff viewing platforms and riverside footpaths drew large crowds. Cruise boats glide across the water, carrying tourists through the canyon to admire the magnificent scenery of clear river waters winding through peaks, and green mountains lining both banks like a painted scroll. Boutique hiking trails stretch along the mountains, connecting ancient post roads and riverside check-in sites, allowing tourists to stroll leisurely, breathe fresh air and enjoy the serene natural scenery.

Diverse Business Formats Enrich Holiday Leisure

Wild Luxury Camping:All 54 tents at Huadu Li · Huawu Resort Camp were fully booked throughout the holiday. Cliff camping, starry sky barbecues and bonfire parties were hugely popular among young travelers, with a panoramic view of the Wujiang River right outside every tent.

Aerial Experience:The paragliding project became fully booked. Taking off from the cliff top, visitors overlook the entire Baili Gallery landscape for a thrilling yet soothing experience, making it a must-try internet-famous activity.

TV Drama Check-in Tours:Filming locations of the hit drama Deep in the Wumeng Mountains continued to go viral. Sites such as Grandma Wu’s Residence, Old Apricot Tree Homestead, Mao Qinghao’s Home and the Miao Embroidery Workshop attracted an endless stream of tourists. Combining drama-themed check-ins with Miao village wandering has become the mainstream travel style.

Comfortable Catering and Accommodation:The occupancy rate of the village’s 25 homestays reached nearly 100%. Most homestays feature river views and elegant decor. Farm restaurants serve authentic local delicacies including Miao sour soup fish and yellow glutinous rice cakes, winning high praise from tourists.

Folk Culture Adds Charm to Journeys


The village was immersed in strong ethnic festive vibes during the holiday. At intangible cultural heritage workshops, skilled embroiderers showcased exquisite craftsmanship. Cultural and creative products such as Miao embroidery and batik were highly favored, allowing visitors to take home a piece of ethnic cultural memory.
