From June 22 to 27, the 2026 Training Course on the Construction and Management of Geoparks, hosted by the National Academy of Forestry and Grassland Administration Cadres, was held in Guiyang City. Staff from Zhijindong Cave UNESCO Global Geopark participated in the training, engaging in intensive study together with management colleagues and geological research experts from geoparks across the country to draw on advanced experience in geopark construction and administration.

Centered on the core theme of high-quality development of UNESCO Global Geoparks, this training invited distinguished experts including He Qingcheng, Chief Scientist of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences and Executive Deputy Director of the National Geopark Network Center, and Yuan Xiaohong, former Second-level Inspector of the Protected Areas Department of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, to deliver lectures. The curriculum was precisely tailored to meet the urgent demands of the ongoing revalidation work, covering special topics such as interpretation of geopark construction policies, standards for the application and evaluation of UNESCO Global Geoparks, innovative eco-tourism and geoscience popularization, as well as investigation, evaluation and conservation technologies for geological heritage. The courses integrated cutting-edge theoretical guidance with proven domestic and international practical cases for reference.

The training also arranged on-site teaching at the Guizhou Geological Museum, where participants inspected standardized exhibition systems, geoscience popularization venues, and supporting facilities for specimen preservation. Group seminars were organized for in-depth discussions on daily management challenges and difficulties in revalidation preparation among representatives of various geoparks. Experts provided on-site professional advice, while participants exchanged work ideas and shared successful practices with one another.
